1. Lt Gen (Retd) Yassin Ibrahim Yassin, the Sudan Defence Minister participated in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) Defence Ministers’ Conclave held on 04 February 2021 at Bengaluru, India. In his Video message, he congratulated India on becoming a non-permanent member in the UN Security Council, acknowledged Indian contribution in peacekeeping missions in various parts of the world, commended the relentless scientific efforts of Indian scientists that have culminated in success in producing an Indian vaccine to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, appreciated India’s profound success in Aerospace & defence and called for strengthening bilateral cooperation in these fields. He proposed joint action and cooperation to achieve maritime security and freedom of navigation between the two countries be undertaken and reaffirmed India’s role in support of African countries during natural disasters and calamities, especially in combating and mitigating the COVID-19 pandemic.
2. Indian Ocean Region (IOR) Defence Ministers’ Conclave was organized by Government of India with the theme “Enhanced Peace, Security and Cooperation in the Indian Ocean” with participation of 24 countries. The conclave is an initiative to promote dialogue in an institutional, economic and cooperative environment that can foster the development of peace, stability and prosperity in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). The deliberations from the conclave will be instrumental in realizing Indian Ocean Region (IOR) into a region of ‘Peace, Progress and Prosperity’ and enhancing the co-operation and coordination among countries of the region for sustainable development and mutual coexistence. India’s vision for Security and Growth for All (SAGAR), as articulated by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, cannot be realized without close cooperation and engagements amongst countries in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
3. A high level delegation led by Lt Gen Issameldin Saeid Koko Abdalrrahman, Commander of Air Force along with Maj Gen (Dr) Mustafa Hassan Mohamed Saeed, Secretary General, Ministry of Defence and Maj Gen Omer Sirelkhatim Hassan Nasur, Deputy Director General, Air Defence participated in Aero India 2021 held from 03 to 05 February 2021 at Bengaluru, India. Lt Gen Issameldin Saeid Koko Abdalrrahman participated in Chiefs of the Air Staff (COAS) conclave organized by Indian Air Force and met with his counterpart Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria, Chief of the Air Staff of India and discussed the ways to enhance bilateral defence cooperation between the two countries.
4. The IOR Defense Ministers’ and Chiefs of the Air Staff Conclaves were special themed events at Aero India Show which is one of the major international exhibitions on aerospace and defence and was organized from 03 to 05 February 2021, wherein, delegations from more than 44 countries participated. India-Sudan bilateral defence relationship is growing to achieve greater heights. The participation of high level delegation from Sudan is a testimony of strong relationship between the two countries which complimented the visit by an Indian Naval Ship INS Airawat last year.
