The police forces said in press release many police stations were attacked by demonstrators and damaged doors and glass windows, as a result of which about (39) policemen were seriously injured, and some police and citizens’ vehicles were damaged and a police vehicle belonging to the Press Police Department was burned.. In related development the U.S. Embassy deeply regrets the loss of life and injuries of dozens of Sudanese citizens demonstrating today for freedom and democracy, and condemns the excessive use of force.
Meanwhile Canada expressed deep concerns regarding the appointment of the Sovereignty Council in Sudan, and urges for PM Hamdok to be released. Canada calls for a civilian-led transitional government that reflects the aspirations of the Sudanese people.
