Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Ethiopian Chargé d’Affairs in Khartoum, Saturday, to protest the incursion of Ethiopian militias supported by the Ethiopian army over the attack on the Sudanese citizens and armed forces inside the Sudanese territories.
One Sudanese army officer was killed and one child, while nearly ten others soldiers wounded including civilian.
The head of the Department of Neighboring Countries at the Ministry conveyed to the Ethiopian Chargé d’Affaires the dissatisfaction and the rejection of the Sudanese government for this attack that comes at a time when preparations were taking place in Khartoum to hold the second meeting of the High-level Joint Committee on Border Issues chaired by Sudan.
The Sudanese official demanded for an urgent investigation and a strong measure be taken to stop such attacks and warned that the sustainability and development of cooperation between the two countries must be based on mutual respect for the sovereignty, independence and borders of each of each country.
He says citizens on both sides have a right to live in peaceful and safe environment and they have the right also to use their natural and economic resources without the victimization or aggression.
