South Sudan’s President, Salva Kiir Mayardit, issued a presidential order appointing the Minister of Presidential Affairs Nihal Deng as the vice-chair of the Sudanese Peace Negotiation Mediation Committee.
The appointment of the prominent leader of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement or SPLM party comes at a time when the negotiation process witnesses great stumbling and problems within the components of the revolutionary front that require exceptional efforts from mediation to achieve breakthroughs that help the parties reach a peace agreement that helps in stabilizing the region and completing the democratic transition in Sudan.
Nhial replaces the former Minister in the office of the President, Mayiik Ayiik Deng, who was relived from his post few weeks ago.
