Elfasher-Khartoum Today -Dozens of women peacefully protested in Elfasher the capital of North Darfur state for backing up the demands of people who have been holding a sit-in for more than a week in Nertiti area locates in Central Darfur state.
The protesters come from different women civic organizations include:
the women network for change ,Bana group for peace, Darfur women for peace ,and IDPs protection networks in North Darfur state.
On sunny day, the women lifted banners and posters on which written ” we are all Nertiti” “the sit-in is right which is enshrined in the constitution” and “the women must be protected.”
The sit-in held in front of the military garrison in Nertiti after killing tens of unarmed farmers ,torturing and raping women by armed militias in that area. However the federal government has recently sent a highly level delegate to the area to listen to their demands.
“We came here today to show our solidarity with people of Nertiti and to support their legal demands in security issues,and prevailing tranquility among the citizens” the head of women network for change Dr. Fatima Ibrahim Ahamed said.
She added that the pro-NCP are still on power in all states resulted in aggravating the security situations in localities and rural areas.
National Congress Party or (NCP) was dissolved after the success of the Sudanese revolution that ousted president Albasher from power consequently its members have not to rule or to practice politics.
She also called the transitional government and all armed struggle movements for speeding the space to bring peace as it is considered as a fundamental demand for the Sudanese particularly for the Darfuris.
Ibrahim also called for the necessarily of appointing the civilian governors.
There are preparations for visiting the sit-in by the women assemblage delegate , the chairwoman of IDPs protection network said.
Mrs Nafisa Mohammed Ismail confirmed that the Darfuri women have been suffering much more from wars, killings ,and rapes by the armed groups in the disputed-areas.
