Human trafficking means any operation that aims to sell or purchase or kidnap people being mails or females for the purpose of doing work forcefully against their desire and in inhumane conditions, besides recruiting child soldiers to work among terrorist groups or insurgents. It also include selling of human organs from all ages.
Human Trafficking has its Physiological and Social Dimensions. It is a security and social threat considering it the third biggest trade globally after the firearms smuggling and drugs. Accordingly there are protection axes, the first is through the measures and laws to curb the phenomenon. The second is the protection of the victims. The third is the enforcement of law and the commitment to the international charters and agreements.
There are several types of exploiting the victims in criminal acts including prostitution, slavery and recruitment of children as soldiers.
In Sudan there are a lot of difficulties in this regard represented by the vast borders line with the neighboring countries besides the weakness of the security alert among the Sudanese people in general.
Sudan has been selected as a continental centre for curbing illegal migration due to its considerable role played by Sudan in illegal migration dossier a matter that resulted to reduction of illegal migration activities.
It is one of the big dossiers which affect the Sudanese economy. We have smuggling in the east and the west for all the commodities which are smuggled to the neigbouring countries a matter that contributes in price hikes.
We believe that all political and executive efforts should be mobilized to assist in making curbing human trafficking a success.
Sudan has become the shield of the world in the activities of curbing intercontinental crimes including the war against terrorism, illegal migration, drugs and arms trade.
It is high time for the international community to support Sudan in confronting those crimes, considering that Sudan is a crossing and transit country for human trafficking.
