Leaders of Sudan’s National Umma Party have rejected the procedures in which Sudanese Prime Minister, Abdallah Hamdok used to appoint the state governors.
The vice chair of Umma party, Saddiq Mohammed Ismael, has asked their six newly appointed civilian’s governors to withdraw from the governorship and state rule announced by Hamdok on Wednesday.
Mohammed, said in a press conference Thursday, that they suggested that unstable states such as Darfur region, should be ruled by retired military figures due to its fragile situation. Adding that Khartoum state would have been ruled by an independent figure rather than including it among party list.
Mohammed explained that the appointment of governors exceeded the criteria presented by the party to the Prime Minister, saying they totally reject the procedures. “Those who were named from our party’s members knew the status of their party’s commitment and position which present the national interest.
