Sudan’ Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok , Prime Minister and leader of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement,(SPLM-N) Abdulaziz Al-Hilu, on a declaration of principles, in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, where the agreement stipulated the separation of religion from the state.
According to the agreement, details of which were obtained by Khartoum Today , Sudan is a multi-ethnic, religious and multicultural country, and these differences must be fully reconciled and accommodated.
The agreement called for the establishment of a democratic state that preserves the rights of all citizens, and for the constitution to be built on the basis of the principle of separation of religion and state, indicating in the absence of this that the right to self-determination, freedom of belief and worship must be respected, and that the practice of religious rituals should be fully excluded for all Sudanese citizens.
It was also stressed that the state should not have an official religion, and that no citizen should be discriminated against on the basis of religion.
The agreement called for the continuation of the current situation in the Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile, as it includes self-defense until security arrangements are agreed upon.
The agreement affirmed maintaining the cessation of hostilities throughout the entire peace process until security arrangements are agreed upon in addition to achieving the principle of appropriate and fair sharing of power and wealth between the various parts of Sudan through the constitutional.
