The special court to try ousted Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir and 27 of his aides accused of plotting a coup during the previous session responded to two requests submitted by the defense committee of the accused.
The Sudanese judge, Essam El-Din, explained in response to the defense committee’s request to change the courtroom due to its lack of hygienic conditions, stressing that the court conveyed the defense’s opinion to the judicial authority and that it is making efforts to find an alternative hall, given that the epidemic is still present.
He emphasized that the coming sessions might be moved to the Friendship Hall, instead of the Institute of Judicial and Legal Sciences courtroom in Khartoum, where the previous sessions were held.
The court also responded to a petition filed by a lawyer to allow his client to be absent from court sessions for health reasons, and it decided to accept the request despite the accusation’s objection to him and allowed the accused to be absent from the sessions except for those being interrogated.
