I would like hereby to offer my deepest condolences to Imam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi family and the people of Sudan on the passing of Sudan’s last democratically elected prime minister.
Late Imam Al-Mahdi in his person and his policies was set out to show those on the other side that they had a little to fear. He sought unity rather than revenge, honesty and understanding rather than naked exercise of power.
People lead movements and political parties all the time; but few of them see their movements lead to real change; Al-Mahdi was one of those few.
There has been an outpouring of emotion across the world following the death of Al-Mahdi. Social media has become an outlet for many Sudanese to express their grief.
The courage of late Al-Mahdi, devotion and loyalty to his people and nation is an inspiration to all those who love freedom.
A great man has passed and will be missed by the whole world. Al-Mahdi was a light that illuminated the Sudanese people’s steps in the middle of the fog in order to achieve the precious democracy.
We will always remember what you did for us and our beloved Sudan.
I hope his memory will always be our Sudan’s compass.
May Allah the Almighty rest Al-Mahdi’s soul in eternal peace.
