Ethiopia has invited Sudan and Egypt to nominate dam operators for data exchange before the filling of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) in upcoming rainy seasons, Ethiopian News Agency reported.
Sudanese irrigation minister welcomed the step of the exchanging process within legal and binding agreement for filling the operation.
The statement of the Sudanese irrigation ministry said information exchange are one of the process that have been agreed upon within about 90% of the cases in which the three countries have reached agreement in the draft agreement since last June.
The statement explained that Ethiopia has informed Sudan through a message from the Minister of Water that it will test the lower gates of the dam by releasing about one billion cubic meters of water within less than 48 hours after we received the notification on the evening of Thursday April 8, 2021.
It would be recalled that Ethiopia announced it will fill the damp if three countries agreed on the filling process or not.
