Khartoum- The peoples nationwides celebrate on the third of May every year , with the national day of press freedom , as the concerned bodies and organizations evaluate the situations of press freedoms and the commitment of state’s governments on following the codes of press ethics.
Undoubtedly the situations of human rights and press freedoms,have improved throughout States worldwide,forin stance, Sudan is one of the countries that has changed the ruling regime from dictatorship to transtional civil power . Where,scoring the stage (159) out of (175) States respected the press freedom, according to correspondents without borders.
The journalists nowadays work in thier hardest moments , as Coronavirus from side and the deterrent laws of breaching the total lockdown from another yet 55 Journalists lost their lives because of Coronavirus in 23 countries .it is noteworthy, the people of media and press never fold hands But opted the distance work, due to deliver news and awareness to the people all over the world.
Mean while, in Sudan COVID-19 has overshadowed on World Press Freedom this year There are some fellow Journalists have test positive like,Mohamed Osman,Musab Mohamed ,Suzsn Suleiman,Salah Al huweij and Muna ALI, have infected with Covid-19 pandemic, during implementing their sainty duty for curbing Coronavirus Pandemic Their colleagues in Sudan wish them a quick recovery
Basically , The people celebdate World Press Freedom this year in extradinory period since history of press ,due to Covid-19 pandemic .Also, the press is the arter of liberation nationwides.
I appeal to the government to provide the highest means of safety for Journalists to impediment their duty during this public health emergency side by side with medical cadres as a long as people need treatment they also in need for awareness to fight COVID-19. It is obvious that to win the battle against COVID-19 we need solidarity and cooperation because it is a battle of every one in the globe. I again I hope that Ministry of Information to take good care of Journalism and journalists in this exceptional moments of the history.
