As Coronavirus emerged lately, which has affected more than 3million and killed more 1.1 million individuals across the globe, media plays a significant role in informing the public about the pandemic infections. It also tells what efforts have been put in place by government and health agencies in order to combat this killing disease.
Despite attempt by authorities in several states to crack down on independent coverage and access to information on pandemic, members of media are facing a huge amount of pressure and strain. Many of them are often potentially exposed to infection through interviews and the location they find themselves working in.
Through the daily reporting, journalists and media practitioners find themselves facing two problems. The first is the Corona virus itself. , which journalists are keen on every day to educate citizens on it through articles, videos and other means, in order to urge citizens to stay homes and submit to instructions of Health authorities.
The second relates to the difficulty of persuading some citizens who break through the curfew hours, which exposes them and their families to infection to the virus, and that makes the media to face difficulty persuading the citizen.
Quite a good number of journalists around the World got infected. Sudan has reported four journalists who contacted the disease while on duties. It is so painful to see fighters, who are supposed to informed people about the disease also become victims themselves.
