What is the relation between the slogan of the revolution (Freedom .. Peace .. Justice) to the aspired economic reform?
The Sudanese revolution which is deep in our history by is distinguished slogan which will remain always an influential domain for deliberations, analysis and will be taught to the upcoming generations.
The question that poses itself here is does that slogan of the revolution have anything to do with the economic reform?
Let us start with the first icon of the slogan (Freedom) which is the first thing that the individual needs to ahead and develop his community politically, economically and socially.
Obviously, the deliberated and recognized freed is he political freedom, but we should involve the economic freedom which makes it complete
The concept of the economic freedom could be defined as the freedom of producing, trade, and the consumption of all commodities and services without using force or cheating.
One of the prominent economists said that (democracy is the best cure for hunger). This is because provides the individuals and community the capabilities of education and equal opportunities that enable all have the chance to enjoy dignified life.
However, one of the biggest mistakes which the Sudanese elites who are involved in the current revolution is comparing it with the samples of the past uprisings.
In fact we are dealing with a new and different approach considering that all the past uprisings were based on a pivotal idea e.g. religious call (Islam), social theory (communism), national vision as liberation revolutions, ethical issues such as rejecting discrimination etc.
Such uprisings usually follow a leader who represents the icon of the idea of the uprising.
In our current revolution the pivotal idea and the leader are not existing, but despite that we are in an actual revolution where hundreds sacrificed their lives to make the revolution a reality.
The Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) presented itself as a leading body and attempted to promote its declaration as the manifesto of the uprising; but most of the revolutionists did not even read the declaration.
Accordingly we can claim that our revolution this time is a new model without determination or limitation of its goals.
The sit-in area provided a fertile environment for the youth to communicate their views and to utilize the social media to promote their aspiration towards freedom, peace and justice.
This revolution is very harmonized without any leader and that is one of the benefits of the communications revolution which distinguished this uprising from the previous ones.
Accordingly we can write the following formula (Social people + social media networks + revolutionary environment = actual collective and innovative ideas.
It is high time for all of us to rise to the level of the spirit of December revolution.
We should recognize that the revolution is surrounded by threats a matter that makes it subject to collapse.
We should recognize that what gathers us – in its minimum for the necessities of life – is stronger than what separates us.
We must meet honestly and seriously to shape a new reality in our beloved country which December revolution opened its doors.
The new reality must meet our aspirations and dreams.
We must work together to break the vicious cycle in order to sustain Freedom, Democracy, Peace and Justice.
The Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) are required to reconsider their present stances, because it is apparent that there is a defect somewhere.
Our elites who are assumed to lead the revolution should avoid the absurd conflict within the components of the FFC.
The results of absurd conflict within the FFC components are obvious when we consider the slowness in the peace dossier or the power share (governors of the states or the delay of the budget due to the differences in the economic path.
In short we urge the FFC, the cabinet and the Sovereign Council to meet and work out a collective plan to rescue what can be rescued in the remaining time of the transitional period.
