The committee formed by the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) Commander in Chief to reveal the circumstances of executing the martyrs of 28th Ramadan coup, announced that it recognized the site the cemetery of the martyrs who were sentenced to death by the ousted regime in April 23rd, 1990 corresponding to 28(Ramdan).
SAF committee revealed, in a press conference held today, the outcomes of the investigation they managed to locate the site of the cemetery. According to witnesses and evidences the site is near Sinkab mountain in Karrari Locality which lies inside the General Intelligence camp. The committee said that there are no buildings on the cemetery, denying that they dug the cemetery.
The committee affirmed that it will allow the families of the martyrs to visit the site to pray for having mercy on the dead after being quite sure of the site.
It is worth noting that the government of the ousted Omer Al Bashir had executed 49 army officers in 23rd April 1990 which corresponded to 28th Ramadan on accusing them of planning for a coup attempt.
For his part, SAF Spokesperson, Brigadier Dr. Amir Mohammed El-Hassan, said in the press conference held in the Ministry of Defence buildings that the Sudanese army is keen on the rights of its living recruits as well as its dead. Then the members of the committee announced the results of the investigation which included that the issue included 49 officers and 10 non-commissioned officers. The committee came out with several recommendations according to which the Sovereign Council issued seven decisions and the Command in Chief issued 5 decisions. The most important decisions are dealing with those executed as martyrs and promoting them to two to three higher ranks besides granting retirement entitlements since 1990 along with a cars and plot of land to each family.
