The Sudan’s Public Prosecution has asserts its responsibility for all those awaiting investigation and trials, including members of the previous regime, or anyone, which is in accordance with Criminal Procedure Law of 1991.
The office of the Public Prosecution clarifies in a treatment circulated in all persecution offices regarding how to protect members of the previous regime during the current Covid-19 period, which are according to the directives of the Ministry of Health.
The statement said the Public Prosecutor is working in coordination with the police and the General Administration of Prison and correction service on a regular basis.
“Members of the previous regime who are held currently in detention and those who might be in need of special health care attention have been receiving proper health attention, including two leaders of the Popular Congress Party, Ali Al Hajj Mohammed, and Ibrahim Assunusi.
The statement explained that Ahmed Mohamed Haroun, was presented to the doctors of the National Prison, Khartoum Bahri, as he diagnosed him with chronic pneumonia. Samples were taken from him in the prison, and another was sent to Alia Hospital. A sample was taken from him and the result of the examination was negative, and that was on 22/4/2020, then he was transferred to Rebat University Hospital. where two other tests were carried out by the Department of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health on April 23/2020 and April 27/2020 and their results were positive and he was transferred to the isolation center in Universal Hospital on April 29-2020 and still in it to date.
The accused, Abdurrahim Mohammed Hussein, was detained on suspicion of having a corona in Alia Hospital on 20/5/2020 after his eye was taken from him in prison by the Department of Epidemiology, where his injury was confirmed and he is still in the hospital to date.
Abdullah Hassan Ahmed Al Bashir was detained in Alia Specialized Hospital on 2/4/2020 and then transferred to Al-Shafi Hospital oncology on 16/4/2020.
Ali Ahmed Hassan al-Bashir and Salah Idris, were isolated in a safe place and under police custody after they were suspected of being infected with the Coronavirus, but their results were negative and they are still in isolation, consistent with the protocol of the Ministry of Health.
A sample was taken from Ali Osman Muhammad Taha, after being suspected of Covid-19 on 20/202020 and the result was received on 25/5/2020 and it was positive and he was transferred to the isolation center in the Daman tower and is still receiving treatment there.
The statement further said two other members of previous regime were also tested but their results are yet to be declared by the laboratory specialists on Friday or Saturday.
Some have refused taking samples from them and however the Public Prosecution, in coordination with the Police and the Ministry of Health, will continue to take all measures to preserve the health and lives of all those who are waiting.
“We note that the Public Prosecution operates on a 24-hour shift system, on public holidays and holidays, and it also passes day-to-day guards in order to determine the conditions of those waiting and allow those who need health care to receive them and release those who deserve security in accordance with the provisions of the law.
The mere reporting of the Corona case, the person is subject to medical regulations and protocols according to the classification and focuses on three cases:
Suspicion cases: The sample is taken and a decision is taken according to the result that appears.
Confirmed cases of contact: immediate isolation.
Corona Confirmation Cases: Transfer to Quarantine Center for treatment.
The Public Prosecutor himself is following up the health conditions of all those awaiting guardianship and prisons in light of the Corona pandemic, and all members and staff of the Public Prosecution office are on standby and to work hard.
