First of August 2005,it was an early morning I was nine years old, I went to the main street where we were waiting Our School bus because it couldn’t enter because of the mud. When we were at the station, I heard the news of John Garang’s death due to the crash of his plane. I was sad and sorry for that a lot because John Garang was a national champion for all children and he embodies the statue of unity for us as Sudanese , with his features and distinctive shape,I heard the young man tell the story with great fog as all the Sudanese who were far from politics, also the information itself was scarce and leaky and no one knew more than the fact that the first vice president of the republic John Garang was visiting Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni.
Our Dreams were a homeland that can accommodate all religions and groups without distinction, and we have a leadership could achieve that dream, after a war that killed thousands of southern and northern Sudanese . The system of the National Congress, like all the systems that preceded it, fought a war with the SPLM and was recruiting young men to force against their southern brothers in the name of jihad .
On the other hand, the SPLM was receiving support from the United States of America, which made the Brotherhood regime place America as its prime enemy. The leader of the popular movement, Dr. John Garang, fulfilled the hopes of the southerners and northerners. He chose peace and signed with the National Congress government on 9 of January 2005 in Kenya they named it the Naivasha declaration , John Garang became a national hero in the eyes of all Sudanese, about six million of people welcomed John Garang in the freedom yard which was known by green yard during the NCP days and dr John said when he saw that number of people “ I can rule Sudan by this number “
After 6 months from signing , John Garang came from the forest to Khartoum to begin his work as First Vice President of the Republic of Sudan Omar al-Bashir, after a few days he said that he would go on a special trip to Juba and then to Uganda where he met the Ugandan President and each of the British, Dutch and Norwegian ambassadors in the garden of Yusufini’s house, When he boarded the plane heading to Al-kHaratum from Entebbe Airport, the plane crashed on the top of the mountain, and there were 13 people inside it and that the accident is merely technical faults on the plane, according to what was stated in the investigation committee which was chaired by Serag El-Din Hamid, Sudan’s ambassador to Uganda at the time.
John Garang’s allies accused Museveni and the ambassadors he had met in his home with the assassination of John Garang, stating that he had discussed with them issues of resources and oil, which angered those ambassadors, and that John Garang had accounts with a bank in Uganda at the time
after 24 hours Khartoum flared when the news was broadcast the incident, SPLM leaders quickly turned around Selvakir, the second man in the armed organization who was at odds with John Garang over the issue of unity with the North and was seeing the secession should come.
The death of John Garang turned the dream into a nightmare, and a large portion of the SPLM leadership acknowledged that the death of John Garang was merely an accident, and the NCP system found the path to thair goal
John Garang died, and the dreams of unity and Sudan died with him, so that northern Sudan remains south, and the south remained north
Now, ten years after the death of John Garang, the facts are still dark, and the National Conference system that paved the way to secession has fallen, but whoever destroys the Sudan .
