The levicons “roots and shoots” are only procedural terms savvying, accurately and objectively, the status of Quranic Schools in Sudan known as Khalwas, this definition does not have to beassessment but rathera depiction as I am not commissioned to plumb the sphere of these purgative territories propagating across Sudan since the advent of Islam long time ago. What triggered me to tackle this issue wastracking a documentary film own the Best Film award at the BBC Festival shortly. The film was about how children at those Quranic Schools are violated and abused.
Founding a Quranic School is solely based on piety and surnatural prophetic advowson. The quality of any sheikh of these schools is being sigh, lamented, heart shattered, and being free from the stains of the soul.Intransigent motif always nestson a line of descent traced continuously from an ancestor (pedigree) to manifest its alibi, and it presents itself as the authentic source of any religious cognition in terms of monotheism, jurisprudence, comportment, and Quran recitation. For this knowledge is acquired from chains of transmission, the Quranic verse recites: (Ask about Him a well- informed- The Criterion, 25:59), such genealogical knowledge spots the difference when reciting the following two Quranic verses (Alif, Lam, Meem-The Hiefer: 1:1) and (Did We not soothe your heart? – The Soothing: 1:94). These homograph words are written in the same way but their pronunciation is clearlyidentified by those who acquired thissteadfast knowledge.
The above-mentioned concept paradoxes the notion of “shoots”which conditions religious disciplines to cope with approbation, and it does not cater for any benchmark and relies only on reason not intercession. Some claimants have endeavored counterfeiting the mystical station of the well-rooted khalwas to memorize the holy Quran in special broken bond khalwas.
Unanimously, Quran is luminous revelation with no past as it is pre-eternal; it is as well a persistent and entire presence which is piecemealed in this light. That is to say, the relationship of Muslim to this Light is so subjective, the more he acquires it from the Prophetic Basin, the more it brightens and irradiates his soul; otherwise he scatters.
By projecting this reference cease onthe documentary film, about the status of Sudanese khalwas, presented at the BBC Television lately, it is crystal clear that the pristine path to delimitate of religious cognition is the traditionellement not opinion. According to Tabari, the base of religious knowledge in Islam is transmissive not intellectual treatises and enquiries. Therefore, any source of religious knowledge out of this matrix is a mere heresy and futility.
Although the film, implicitly, magnitudes modern trends of education,I have not witnessed what shown in so many deep-rooted hospices that I have visited. I do not know whether it is malicious scheme, or wretched ignorance to present such a show! These hospices have been playing axial roles in education in Sudan and they were the first beacon in this ambit since the released of Islam in Sudan. For learning is permanent change in behavior for better, these khalwaspractice what they preach; they settle social disputes that are risqué to governmentsseeking neither compensation, nor gratitude. Moreover, their roles are not shorthanded in memorizing the holy Quran only; they have the top mug in settling in earth. Some terrains designated by sheikhs who were the first persons to dwell there, for example, el-Zareeba, Umdawan Ban, el-Kabashi, and Medani. So, one can infer that Sudan population geography is basically based on those vertuous sheikhs.
Factual modernity is sought in the roots since the verse recites: “Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His servant, to be a warning to humanity.” (Criterion- 25:1). This verse validates themodernity of Islamic religion to the age of technology when derived from chains of transmission. Each one tracked the show has a right to ask: what is chain of transmission of (el-Khulfaa el-Rashideen) khalwa? And from whom sheikh Hussien (the sheikh of the above khalwa) memorized the holy Quran? And what sophist school does it affiliate to? These questions are essential since there is a new version of Islam revolving across the globe, and Islamic religion is free from what is called practical pratique. To avoid overgeneralization, the true believer isnot a slanderer, nor does he curse others, and nor is he immoral or shameless. Unfortunately, these pernicious characteristics are used by some sheikhs, memorized in intermittent khalwas, in the media as tools in formal platforms to guide Muslims and call for Islam!
In sum, the Word of Alla is surely preserved by Him, and no one on earth is assigned to deliver His word, after the prophet, except God’s friends, for they symbolize theintransigent concept which resists the past and modernizes it beyond the present.
