Director-General of the WHO, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Tedros Adhanom said in a press briefing on Wednesday that he’s received racist death threats.
“I can tell you personal attacks that have been going on for more than two or three months — abuses or racist comments, giving me names, black or Negro, [and] — for the first time I would make this public — even death threats,” Tedros said.
His words came as he called on countries around the world not to politicize the coronavirus pandemic — in particular the US and China.
“I don’t care who says what about me. I would prefer to focus on saving lives,” Tedros said. “Let’s fight like hell to suppress and control this virus”
