The National Umma Party اhas called for rebuilding the institutions of the transitional period on new bases and creating a political and security environment to ensure the smooth transition of the fourth democracy, with consensus on national goals and the willingness to bear the burden of the transition and to be patient for the requirements of democratic transformation.
In a press conference held by the Umma party in its headquarters in Omdurman on the “current political situation in Sudan”, the party’s leader, Maj. Gen. (Rtd. Fadlalla Burma Nasir, stated that the top of the challenges facing the transitional period include the absence of a collective vision, the structural imbalance in the freedom and change system and its loss of a common vision and will, in addition to indifference and dependence on the outside, a matter which complicated the country’s political, economic and security problems.
He noted that the political and civil forces composing the government do not hold a unified vision towards the major issues of the homeland.
He said that the transitional period also faces the challenges of peace, absorbing the movements that are not signatories to the Juba Agreement, and the difficulty of implementing the agreement, especially in the aspect of security arrangements and the sharing of power and wealth, as well as conflicts of interests and visions of regional and international parties about the situation in Sudan, in addition to the economic challenges and the difficulty of providing the citizen’s daily needs of bread, fuel, medicine..
Burma expressed his party’s rejection of dividing the country on ethnic bases, and announces the Umma Party’s support to the administrative division, revealing that the party had prepared a paper explaining its vision on the regional governance.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the party, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Amin stated that his party calls for foreign relations that serve the interests of the people and guarantee the supreme interests of the country.
He described Israel as a usurper and represents the largest settlement entity in history, adding that the normalization with Israel was imposed by the United States of America.
Dr. Al-Amin attributed the Umma Party’s participation in the government to the patriotic motives to preserve the transitional period from the dangers that threaten it toward reaching a mature democracy.
On the issue of the Renaissance Dam, has said that the Ethiopian position is unacceptable, indicating that the Sudanese position is based on Sudan interests and its right for the waters of the Eastern Nile Basin as a middle country, adding that Sudan has continued to support Ethiopia, especially in times of famine.
He affirmed Sudan endeavor to reach consensual solutions on the Renaissance Dam issue that serve the three parties.
