It is definite that the COVID-19 pandemic is not all curse as some – and I am one of them – think that there is what we can call (blessing in disguise) and there might be some benefits from the pandemic.
In 2005 the longest civil war in the African continent came to an end in South Sudan after the signature of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA)
After silencing the guns in war zones in South Sudan, the Sudanese environment Society officials started a tour to see on the ground the environmental impact of that war, and to their astonishment they found that the natural geographical scenes were recovering in some of the areas lying in the south/west of the Blue Nile state in a very short time . The trees in the forests became dense and tangled after the organized an random cutting stopped.
Today, the Secretary General of the Arab Experts of Environment announced that COVID-19 pandemic has caused a lot of damages, but at the same time it rescued the environment from the oppression of humans.
On its part, the BBC pointed to the considerable decline of air pollution in Venice and Beijing due to the decline of human activity.
National Geographic Magazine reported that COVID-19 pandemic rescued the earth planet from an imminent disaster caused by the carbon dioxide emissions resulted from the smokes of the factories, the vehicles’ exhaust, the aircrafts and the human assault on the environment.
The magazine said that the earth planet breathed after the halt of activities all over the globe especially the industrial states.
An “unprecedented” ozone depletion in the northern hemisphere has healed, and one of the reasons might be due to the impacts of worldwide coronavirus lockdown.
Obviously, the coronavirus lockdowns resulted in a significant reduction of air pollution.
Experts argued that the stop of conflicts in several areas, encouraged the wild animals to return an breed after some of it were subject to extinction.
On social environmental aspect, the health isolation procedures resulted to a significant change in the family’s life as well as individuals who started reconsidering their stances including the conflicts in interests overwhelming the humanity.
To sum it up we say that COVID-19 pandemic is not all curse and it includes blessing if we look to the full part of the cup.
Thank you COVID-19.
