Fourteen months passed since power-sharing agreement has been signed between civilians and military on 17 August 2019 as the Sudanese people put rays of hopes to overcome the severe and chronic economic situation.
Many conferences of Sudan’s friends and partners have been held to ravilitize as The eighth Friends of Sudan meeting was held in Riyadh on 12 August 2020 via videoconference.
The Representatives from Canada, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Norway, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sweden, the African Development Bank, the African Union and the European Union, the International Monetary Fund, the League of Arab States, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the United Nations, the United States and the World Bank and the Government of Sudan participated in the meetings in previous meetings yet no real change has happened on the ground as the inflation rate has reached highest record of 212% in comparing with the time before these conferences .
The question is what does Sudan wants and needs following removal from U.S list of states sponsor terrorism the step which paved the way for fully open-up with international community . Sudan needs to get incentives for its agricultural and animal production to world markets particularly Europeans markets therefore debt relief should be the next step because Sudan’s debts which exceed $60 billion is another challenge lie ahead to transitional government .
