One of Distinctive archaeological areas in Sudan located in Karima town 400 km north Khartoum in north area one the Larg bend of Nile river in region called Nubia . AL-Barkal mountain is small mountain compared with mountains in the area . Mountain is 98 m tall and has flat top in .albarkal represent one of notable landmarks for-trade between arab island and Egypt and central Africa in the past Named by al-barkal mountain in 2003 in conjunction with UNESCO’S declaration of the city of Napata as one of the word’s heritage sites that must be protected. What makes this mountain special there is three castles, and thirteen temples, Around the mountain , five Inscription has been discovered . located in Cairo museum. There were joint mission between Harvard university , museum of fine arts, Boston and Rome Sapienza mission For prospecting .Al-barkal mountain was royal cemetery during the Meroitic period and there is fifteen pyramids located there .the first pyramid belongs to the great king khushi .And fourth pyramid belongs to the queen Amani RInas or KAndaka.Albarkal contains artifacts ,including the statute of king aspelta from the temple of amun ,in Boston museum for art. Amun temple is one of the. Biggest temples contain from one tower and courtyard with ten pillars .this how looks in The past after the restoration of the temple during the reign of Ramses II , big courtyard were been built contains fifty pillars were made of sandstone and walls are made of bricks. Numerous ornate walls were built and statues erected in the temple because it was the center of religious for both the Egyptians and the Nubians in the past .
