As President Donald Trump halts the US funding to the World Health Organization(WHO) it became apparent that Covid-19 will change geo-politics in the whole globe.
That decision comes at a time when the whole world is calling for solidarity and cooperation to fight the pandemic that has spread both fear and pain around the world.
Sudan’s New Challenge
With the country’s economy already in shambles where prices are rising and the unemployment rate is already high the pandemic makes living in the country more challenging than ever further.
As that makes Sudan’s transition towards democracy and peace more challenging than ever before we need to work in solidarity with the transition government to help achieve those goals.
That can only work when the people forget the divisions that the former regime of Omar Al-Bashir has created when it was in power. The former regime has caused that division through using its ideology and ethnic divisions thereby undermining the social fabric of the country.
With the coronavirus spreading through community transmission dozens of cases have been confirmed outside of Khartoum into the River Nile State where 32 cases of people infected by the virus as confirmed by Abu Hamad.
The Global Response
As people have taken to social media to show their deep concerns with the slackness of regional and international response to the pandemic I believe leaders should deeply reflect the reforms that regional and international blocks need to undergo.
Those reforms should be more than just adding a permanent member in the UN Security Council to take the lead in dealing with the crisis. That is because this pendemic has created a crisis that has broken has broken all barriers no veto any more .
Therefore, it is high time for people to thrust out their difference by power of logic not logic of power .
The post-coronavirus world for sure will never remain the same as the world before . If there is one learnt lesson is that government all over the world came to conclusion that they should pay more in health than any other sector as saving life of people is the most significant goal
