Namaskar, Salaam Walekum,
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you all today on this auspicious occasion to celebrate India’s Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsavis a 2 year programme to commemorate 15August 2022, the 75thanniversary of India’s independence, in short India@75.
India@75 lays special emphasis to inspire and awaken the present generation of our countrymen to lead India to acquire enough economic strength, technological vitality and moral leadership to actively shape a “New India” and a new world order. a “New India” working for all round progress and good governance domestically and mutual understanding, peace and development globally.
Today is also our75th Independence Day. On this occasion we all Indians pay our tributes to to the countless freedom fighters, some known but many unknown, the unsung heroes who strived, struggled and even made supreme sacrifices in the freedom struggle and secured us our independence. The occasion is also best suited to remember the concerted efforts of our scientists, technologists, health care professional, security forces, teachers, industrialists, workers and all Indians who contributed towards the betterment of the country during these past years.
Like the struggle for our freedom, the journey of the last 74 years as a free nation has equally been a path full of struggle, hard work, innovation, enterprise and sometimes sacrifices by ordinary Indians. India has made profound progress in all walks of life such as polity & public services; socio-economic development; scientific and technological advances, including hi-tech and frontier areas likes of medicine, defence, space, IT & AI, renewable’s, peaceful uses of nuclear energy etc. Today, the largest democracy is full of youth, vigor, vitality and robustness and eager to strengthen its roots & traditions, while embracing the modernity, on way to meeting all its global commitments and upholding the constitution and fundamental rights of its people domestically.
Today, on introspection our beloved countrymen feel exalted with pride on these achievements and the milestones reached in this remarkable journey The young nation with indomitable spirit, youthful, hardworking and aspiration population renews its resolve to take the country to newer heights and further glories.
Whether in India or abroad, we Indians are known for our hard work and dedication. These are the essential values which have led over 30 millions of Indian diaspora spread in every nook and corner of the world to make a name for itself and the motherland. They have taken forward the Indian ethos and values to their respective adopted countries. They together with our brothers and sisters in India have made India a centre of attraction and a matter of discussion on every fora.
Today the world is interconnected and inter-dependent ever than before and the two years of the pandemic is a witness to this. So, it is the need of the hour that a vast and populous country like India should increase its contribution to the world in every domain forthe betterment of mother earth. Hence, India realizes the importance to empower herself and be self-reliant or ‘Aatma Nirbhar’.
India’s selfless move in working for a better tomorrow for the mother earth through sharing its experience, expertise, knowledge and resources, technical assistance, Humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, Peace keeping and maritime security etc.is well acknowledged. Nobody needs retelling as to how the India made Corona vaccines have tried to save the world from the pandemic though India itself had to pay a very high price. India’s election for a non- permanent seat of the UNSC for 2021-22 at elections in 2020 saw it getting vote and support of 184 countries out of 192. This further demonstrates India’s acceptance as a source of global good and its commitment to internationalism. Our resolve to settle outstanding issues through discussion and peaceful means is for all to see and has always been appreciated around the world.
India has been a strong votary of South-South cooperation and specially of cooperation with Africa. Our cooperation is without any strings attached and is only with a view to up-skill and upgrade the lives of the people of the continent. I hope that the 4thIndia Africa Forum Summit may happen this year so that we can further see an up-thrust in India-Africa relations.
India and Sudan have historically warm relations. India’s contribution towards inspiring the independence movement, institution building, strengthening of democratic process and building of legal framework of pre and post-independence Sudan is well known. The trade and investment ties and people to people contact is ever increasing. The Indian Diaspora in Sudan has played an important role in bringing high levels of technical skills into Industrial sector in Sudan. India has strongly supported Sudan at International fora starting from the Bandung Conference of 1955 to till today.
A distinct but vital progress is visible in Sudan towards freedom, democracy and prosperity. The bugle of change and positivity can be heard loudly. As Sudan progressestowards democratic transition, India with its 75 years of experience in Constituent Assembly, representative democracy, federalism, development of legislature, judiciary, elections, media and institution building etc.issurely capable of providing a helping hand.
