To commemorate 75 years of India’s independence and to introduce the developments in and progress of India to the Sudanese partners and friends a hybrid interaction between Indian & Sudanese companies in Telecom sector was organized on 9 September, 2021 with Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC), Government of India hosting the virtual meet from Indian side, whereas the Embassy of India, Khartoum organized an onsite meet in Khartoum, Sudan at the auditorium provided by the Telecommunications and Post Regulatory Authority (TPRA) Sudan. It was attended by more than 60 participants dealing in telecom related products & services.
2. In his welcome remarks Mr. Sandeep Aggarwal, Chairman, TEPC touched upon the various aspect of Indo-Sudan bilateral relations and existence of civilizational trade relations between the two countries. He underlined that India and Sudan are similar in many ways and India’s expertise in telecommunications and IT can be used for the growth and development of Sudanese society and economy.
3. Mr. Elsadig Gameleldeen, Director General of Telecommunications and Post Regulatory Authority (TPRA) Sudan was present on the occasion. The cooperation between the Embassy and TPRA, India’s achievement in telecommunications, with India being one of the largest market for telecom products and how Indian companies operating in the segment rose to the occasion during the ongoing pandemic and provided solutions for work from Home, education from home etc.; the recent webinar on India’s experience on e-Governance which was held in Khartoum on 2 September, 2021 and thanked TPRA for helping the Embassy in taking forward the bilateral cooperation not only in the ICT but spanning digital arena, post, etc were highlighted by me. TPRA’s signing of letter of Intent with Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to collaborate in field of telecom regulatory environment like of framing of rules, training, technology transfer etc. were positively mentioned.
4. Various Indian companies gave presentations on products and services offered by them and shared their contact details seeking partnerships and collaboration with Sudanese companies. The event came to close with Vote of Thanks by Director General, TEPC, Mr. Arun Kumar Gupta.
